Volunteerism
Our founder Sarah Sharif has organized events, workshops, and hackathons since 2015 to serve communities in Austin, San Francisco, and London.
Sharif started volunteering at age 10 by recycling for her childhood community in Reading, UK. At 13, she started a club to raise funds for conservation and local wildlife. At 16, she volunteered for 2 years at Stanford Hospital's ER & ICU and Veterans Affairs Hospital's Radiology, where she developed her empathy skills. Sharif has also volunteered with Planned Parenthood, Austin City Limits Festival, Austin Chronicle, City of Austin, LQBTQ-led HackOut, Lesbians Who Tech, Women Who Code, Hispanic Hackers, and MozFest. Today, she supports the New York and Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.
